Indian Wedding Invitation Wording by Religion — Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian & Jain

Indian wedding invitation wording usually has four parts: a blessing line, the hosts (parents or the couple), the request ("request the pleasure of your company…"), and the details of each function. What changes by religion is the blessing at the top and a few traditional phrases. Below are samples you can copy for each — formal and modern — then replace the names in brackets.

The structure every invitation follows

1. Blessing line — a short invocation, e.g. ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥, ੴ, Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim, or a Bible verse.
2. Hosts — traditionally the parents or grandparents; many couples now host themselves.
3. The request — "request the honour of your presence" (formal) or "would love you to celebrate with us" (modern).
4. The couple — with "daughter of / son of" if the parents are hosting.
5. Each function — date, time, venue and dress code.
6. RSVP — by a date, so you can plan catering.

Hindu wedding invitation wording
